Metrigy has published its workplace collaboration product and service forecasts and calendar year 3Q24 market shares.

January 29, 2025 – Metrigy has published its Workplace Collaboration MetriCast 3Q24 market shares and forecasts. The categories include on-premises PBX and unified communications (UC), UC as a service (UCaaS), enterprise session border controllers (eSBCs), IP desk phones, and SIP trunking. Highlights include:

  • UCaaS is the largest product category within the areas we forecast, topping out at $20.7 billion in 2023, up 8.8% YoY. Metrigy has forecast 7.9% revenue growth for the UCaaS market in 2024.
  • Microsoft leads the UCaaS market with 20% global revenue share in CY23. Other leading providers are Cisco, Zoom, and RingCentral.
  • The on-premises PBX & UC market decreased 9.9% in CY23, to $1.9 billion in global revenue, and additional 10.3% decrease forecast for 2024.
  • Cisco leads the on-premises PBX & UC market with 42% global revenue market share in CY23 and 36% share in 3Q24. Other leading vendors are Avaya, Mitel, NEC, and Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise.
  • The eSBC market grew 1.8% in CY23, to $539.5 million in global revenue, and is forecast to decrease 0.3% in 2024.
  • Oracle is the eSBC market leader with 17% global revenue market share in CY23 and 19% in 3Q24. Other leading vendors are Cisco, AudioCodes, and Ribbon Communications.
  • The IP desk phones market decreased 29.2% in CY23, to $1.3 billion in global revenue, and an additional 21.1% decrease is forecasted for 2024.
  • The SIP trunking market grew 8.6% in CY23, to $11.4 billion in global revenue, and additional 8.6% growth is forecasted for 2024.

“The top providers across the workplace collaboration market landscape – Microsoft, Cisco, and Zoom – have benefited from enterprise adoption of video and cloud applications, particularly in the past five years,” says Diane Myers, Metrigy senior research director. “The combined market of on-premises PBX platforms and UCaaS services grew 7% in CY23 and growth rates will taper off over the next five years as more businesses migrate to the cloud, which is highly price competitive.”
