MetriNote – Tango Extends Microsoft Teams to Mobile via eSIM
Published on: June 26, 2023
June 20, 2023 – Fixed-mobile convergence continues to generate a great deal of activity. Coming on the heels of the recent AT&T and Cisco announcement, which we covered in a MetriNote earlier this month, Tango Networks has introduced Tango Extend, a FMC solution for Microsoft Teams. Unlike Microsoft’s own Teams Phone Mobile, which is sold through a limited number of carrier providers and supports only a single corporate-managed identity on a phone, Tango Extend uses an eSIM approach. This approach allows companies to add Teams phone numbers to existing personal or corporate-managed mobile devices. Setup is simple, with a Teams user only having to scan a QR code in the Tango extension within the Teams desktop app to configure their eSIM for their Teams phone number. Tango is selling the service through Microsoft Operator Connect and/or Direct Routing partners and via calling plan resellers. The service is initially available in the U.S. and U.K., with further international expansion planned. At launch, Tango has seven approved partners: AudioCodes, CallTower, Fusion Connect, NTT, Pure IP, SIPPIO, and TelWare.
