Metrigy has published its updated workplace collaboration product and service forecasts and calendar year 2024 and 4Q24 market shares.
April 23, 2025 – Metrigy has published its Workplace Collaboration MetriCast 2024 and 4Q24 market shares and updated forecasts. The categories include enterprise session border controllers (eSBCs), IP desk phones, on-premises PBX & unified communications (UC) systems, SIP trunking, and UC as a service (UCaaS). Highlights include:
- UCaaS is the largest product category within the areas we forecast, topping out at $21.7 billion in 2024, with a 6.5% YoY change. Metrigy has forecast 6.7% revenue growth for the UCaaS market in 2025.
- Microsoft leads the UCaaS market with 21% global share of UCaaS seats in CY24. Other leading providers are Cisco, Zoom, and RingCentral.
- The on-premises PBX & UC market decreased 6.6% in CY24, to $1.85 billion in global revenue, with an additional 4.7% decrease forecast for 2025.
- Cisco leads the on-premises PBX & UC market with 43.5% global revenue market share in CY24. Other leading vendors are Avaya, Mitel, and Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise.
- The eSBC market decreased 6.7% in CY24, to $512.4 million in global revenue, and is forecast to remain flat with 0.5% growth in 2025.
- Oracle is the eSBC market leader with 18.3% global revenue market share in CY24 and 17.6% in 4Q24. Other leading vendors are AudioCodes, Ribbon Communications, and Cisco.
- The IP desk phones market decreased 22.7% in CY24, to $1.02 billion in global revenue; an additional 27.2% decrease is forecasted for 2025.
- The SIP trunking market grew 8.9% in CY24, to $12.4 billion in global revenue; an additional 8% growth is forecasted for 2025.
“Microsoft, Cisco, and Zoom remain the leading workplace collaboration providers, expanding their market shares in calendar year 2024,” says Diane Myers, Metrigy senior research director. “The combined market of on-premises PBX platforms and UCaaS services grew 5% in CY24 but growth rates will taper off over the next five years as more businesses migrate to the cloud, and the market hits a steady subscription revenue flow.”
