Coming as no surprise to anyone following the workplace collaboration space over the last year, artificial intelligence (AI), specifically generative AI, dominated vendor and service provider announcements at this year’s Enterprise Connect, with a few notable exceptions.

AI announcements focused on a few major themes:

  • Collaboration application usability – Including the ability to summarize chats and meeting transcripts, improve writing, and improve voice and video quality
  • Role- and industry-based capabilities – Designed to improve specific roles, including sales, help desk support, customer service, and more, and to deliver measurable return on investment

Beyond AI capabilities, we saw a significant focus on addressing AI concerns, namely security and compliance. IT and business leaders are increasingly concerned about AI accuracy, data privacy and security, and how to manage AI-generated content. We also saw product introductions designed to improve the ability of hybrid employees to communicate and collaborate, regardless of location. And we saw further evolution of mobility, with announcements focused on enhancing the ability of users to leverage their mobile devices as an integrated endpoint within their communications environment.
