MetriNote – Microsoft Adds New Communications App, Skills Service to Viva Suite

Oct. 10, 2023 – Microsoft has introduced a new internal communications capability and an AI-powered skills service for its Viva Suite of employee experience applications. With the new communications capability, called Viva Amplify, corporate communicators can create and centrally manage their employee messaging campaigns, add reviewers, and schedule publication across channels such as Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Viva Connections, and Viva Engage. In addition, Amplify provides reporting and analytics so that communicators can measure the success of their campaigns, including by factors such as job function, location, and role, and make changes based on data. Viva Amplify is generally available. With the new Skills in Viva service, Microsoft aims to help businesses understand workforce skills and gaps, tapping into employee activity signals from Microsoft Graph and skills mapping via LinkedIn Skills Graph. In addition, Skills in Viva will deliver personalized skills-based experiences throughout Microsoft 365 and Viva applications. Skills in Viva is targeted at employees, business leaders, and HR. Skills in Viva will be available in private preview by the end of the year.
