MetriNote – Pexip Enhances One-Touch-Join and Adds AI

Author: Irwin Lazar, President and Principal Analyst, Metrigy What's the news? November 2024 – Video conferencing vendor Pexip has made two announcements over the last week introducing new capabilities of its private video conferencing and video interoperability platform. They are:
  • Pexip Connect for Teams Rooms – providing Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) customers with an enhanced one-touch-join option for meetings hosted on non-Microsoft services (e.g., Cisco Webex, Google Meet, Zoom Meetings, etc.). Compared to Microsoft’s native Direct Guest Join capabilities, Pexip adds broader support for third-party meeting services, including Amazon Chime, Google Meet, and RingCentral Video, as well as support for content sharing and multiple displays. The solution, for use with in-room control panels or touch screens, is available now for Windows-based MTR, with Android support coming in 2025.
  • Pexip Private AI – delivering features such as live meeting captions and translation to allow multi-language meetings while providing customers with the ability to ensure that they maintain control of meeting data. The solution, based on NVIDIA Riva’s speech recognition technology, is available today for meeting captions with translation capabilities coming at a later point. Private AI also offers the ability for customers to customize their own language models to optimize caption and translation for their specific terminology.
