August 6, 2024 – RingCentral has introduced RingCentral Next-Gen POTS Replacement, a cloud-based alternative to traditional copper wire POTS services. RingCentral’s offering provides an on-premises device that connects analog endpoints including fax machines, alarms, phones, point-of-sale systems, and elevators, to the RingCentral VOIP service through IP connectivity, with the optional ability to use mobile network services for backup. To meet the regulatory needs of battery backup devices, the RingCentral POTS replacement device provides up to 48 hours of backup power. Ring Central notes that Next-Gen POTS replacement is in controlled availability now and is only available as an add-on to existing RingEX subscription plans, priced at a fixed-monthly subscription cost plus pay-as-you-go calling. Pricing starts at $70 per month per line.
