MetriNote – Vonage Adds Feature-Rich API for Visual Engagement

Author: Beth Schutlz, Vice President of Research and Principal Analyst March 21, 2023 – Vonage continues to uplevel its communications API portfolio with the introduction of Vonage Meetings API, a video communications platform-as-a-service (CPaaS) offering for embedding video conferencing capabilities in websites or platforms. A no-code solution, this new API comes pre-built with a host of video meeting capabilities, including a meetings framework that supports end-to-end user experience and user interface, simple room and user management, and global dial-in. For engagement, Meetings API includes screen sharing, whiteboarding, active speaker detection, chat, reactions, and recording. For security and compliance, the API comes with support for private meeting access, lock meeting, join before host, waiting room, and more. Meetings API also includes pre-built capabilities for moderation, client optimization, and customization for branding and localization, and operates fully within mobile and desktop browsers so requires no downloads. Vonage uses tiered (by volume), participant-based pricing for Meetings API, as it does for Video API. Recording is composed and billed for the entire meeting (not per participant).
