Author: Irwin Lazar, President and Principal Analyst What's the news? May 20, 2025 – Google, in partnership with HP, has formally introduced Google Beam, which it bills as an “AI-first 3D video communications platform.” Beam is the evolution of Google’s Project Starline, announced in 2023. Beam integrates with Google Meet to provide one-to-one virtual meeting experiences that give participants the feeling of being in the same room as one another. It leverages both Google’s AI, as well as camera and display hardware (initially from HP) to deliver an immersive, 3-D experience. Google will ship Beam later this year, working through partners such as AVI-SPL and Diversified. Google will also extend the technology to Zoom Meetings. Pricing has not yet been disclosed.
