Includes insights from 157 IT leaders/stakeholders and 171 end users in North America.
September 4, 2024 – Research and advisory firm Metrigy has released its Connected Workspaces & Collaborative Work Management: 2024-25 research study, conducted with 157 IT leaders/stakeholders in North America and including insights from 171 end users studied separately.
“Connected workspace applications are becoming increasingly popular for their ability to boost productivity, especially as AI functionality gets layered in,” says Beth Schultz, Vice President of Research and Principal Analyst, Metrigy. “But with this popularity comes challenges, including a proliferation of tools outside of IT’s control and budgeting purview. Forty percent of the most successful companies and two-thirds of all others have already standardized on a single app, and our research shows many other companies are set to follow.”
In this study, Metrigy explores how companies are implementing connected workspaces for their employees. A connected workspace for collaborative work management brings together applications such as project and task management with knowledge bases, document repositories, and chat. A primary goal is reducing the inefficiencies incurred as employees spend time hopping from one app to the next as they work throughout the day.
Specific topics include:
- Technology Adoption and Implementation
- Benefits and Success Factors
- Organizational Strategy
- Budget and Spending
- Organizational & Technology Pain Points
- Usage and Productivity
- Use of AI
What you will learn from this study:
- Why 58% of companies have already adopted a connected workspace app, and why all others studied are either planning for or evaluating this technology
- 68% of employees use a connected workspace app, on average. What type of work are they most often doing?
- 54% of companies fund connected workspace purchases exclusively through a dedicated budget. Are successful companies doing so?
- 40% of companies consider employee experience/wellness to be among the top organizational pain points they’re addressing with connected workspace apps. Do end users agree?
- 19% favor use of pure-play connected workspace apps, while 13% prefer starting their evaluations with a best-of-breed solution. From which vendors, and for what purposes?
- 32% of companies are already supporting AI in their connected workspaces. How will this change over the next couple of years?
