MetriNote – Microsoft Brings AI to Teams Premium

Author: Irwin Lazar, President and Principal AnalystFebruary 1, 2023 – Microsoft announced general availability of Teams Premium, leveraging OpenAI’s GPT 3.5, the same engine that powers ChatGPT, to improve the Teams user experience. Initially Teams will use GPT to provide an intelligent meeting assistant. AI will deliver features including meeting recaps containing notes, recommended tasks, and individualized meeting highlights. Teams’ AI-powered intelligent recap will break meeting recordings into sections, enabling users to jump to specific parts of a meeting that they wish to view. Another feature tracks attendees who leave and rejoin meetings, enabling someone who drops off for part of a meeting to quickly find the part in the recording that they missed. Teams Premium sells for $7 per-user, per-month, $3 more than Teams Essentials.
